Lipspeakers work with deaf people who prefer to communicate through lipreading and speech. A lipspeaker is a hearing person trained to repeat a speaker's message to lipreaders accurately, without using their voice. They use natural gesture, facial expression and will also use fingerspelling if required. Lipspeakers also voice-over for the deaf person, if that person does not have sufficient clear speech.

Please note that deaf people have a range of different communication methods depending on their degree of hearing loss, education, background and personal preference.
